Along Pasadena Blvd., each year there would
be a carnival of booths and games celebrating the Fete de Normandy.
Usually there would be a magnificent parade lead by the very talented
Normandy Marching Band. One year, I remember my father having the
Football Cardinals giant helmet golf cart delivered for the parade and
getting to ride in it down Natural Bridge Road and ending on Pasadena Blvd.
behind the old Kroger's Grocery Store. The very
talented Normandy Jazz Band provided entertainment during the day. |

I answered the front door one
afternoon and a thirty something man was asking if he could rake my yard.
During our negotiations, we both noticed some sticks in the bushes moving
around. At first, we thought it was the wind. In the next few
seconds, a five point buck popped his head up and approached our front
steps. The would-be leaf collector almost ran me over to steer clear
of the several hundred pound animal. The animal remained in the yard
for a few minutes, while we stood in amazement that a deer, much less a
buck, would be wandering through the community.
Previously, we had seen the normal wild-life of the area pass by, such as
raccoon's and an occasional fox or two. This was a new experience and
one to remember. |
