Pasadena Hills Block Party Print E-mail

Our September 17th neighborhood block party, chaired by Marie Penkake, manned by a long and strong list of neighborhood volunteers, and supported by an equally impressive list of prize and in-kind food and giveaway sponsors hit a home run with literally hundreds of Pasadena Hills and Pasadena Park residents.  With 14 tents set up around the fountain and along the grassy ravine on Roland toward Overbrook, whole families came and stayed for hours between 4:00-9:00 p.m.

The weather was kind, cool with light cloud cover making it pleasant to just kick back, meet and visit new and old neighbors, and take part in the sponsored run and tent activities that included blood pressure screenings, an antique doll display, free custom fitted bike helmets, energy efficient light bulbs, pet-friendly information, games, give aways, pot luck appetizers and desserts, hot dogs and soda, live music, spinning wheel weaving demonstrations, portraits, face painting, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream and so much more!

The streets were adorned in beautiful chalk graphics, (which were washed clean by an early Sunday morning rain) and the jump ropes, elastic yoyos and hula hoops were put in motion!  An unofficial poll of youngest and oldest attendees would give 3-week old Cecelia on Country Club and 90 year old "Uncle Bill" on Overbrook the prizes.  If you can beat those statistics - please set us straight!

In total Louis Kelly took 285 pictures at the event - too many for this site.  Some are displayed on this page, but you can view the entire collection at the website listed below and order prints.  There are many terrific family portraits that you won't want to miss!
